Hispanic Model: Growing In Demand
Those responsible for the entertainment and media broadcasting in North America - and all over the Planet -, have been under an enormous pressure in the past decade to bring more and more of the Latino/Hispanic look into people's homes, shedding a light on the fact that, the large number of Latin Americans all around the globe also demanded to be part of what was considered in and important. The time has arrived when no Hispanic family will live without seeing faces that look like their own appearing in the covers of the most glamorous magazines all over the globe.
Like with all the other ethnic groups, a model being a man or a woman, can get their foot in the door starting with catalog modeling. Because of the great audience and its different styles, shapes and sizes even in the Latino/Hispanic communities, the idea of a "perfect" look is not always the key to understand how to be part of this growing industry. Yes, you must look good in the picture, but you also need to see that the specific and the so-called "exotic" traits are also a plus when applying for a model position in an agency, even in the smaller ones. TV shows, swimsuit models calendars and other types of printed material are always interested in a figure that will claim the viewer's attention and stand out in the middle of the crowd. So being "different" of the usual and basic Latin look will never be a bad call.
Being in shape is greatly important, but the fashion industry for an instance, is also desperate to sell their products to everyone they can get their hands on, so even if you do have a few extra pounds, you still can look appealing to the seller who wants to bring a "normal" looking person into their campaign, so they'll make the consumer feel they're motivated to buy from that specific brand.
Even though the modeling industry can be a rough one to get into, the ones who keep themselves passionate about it, won't be let down since it's a highly valued profession and very well rewarded, not to mention the fact that being part of serious productions and standing out for your ethnic background, will eventually lead to more and more exposure and a better and larger spot for you and your people in the public eye.
If you still don't have quality photos taken of you, hurry up! The picture is your proof of authenticity, it's the final word when someone needs to know if you really look good on camera. Finding a professional and somewhat experienced photographer will help. Show your refinement and professionalism by picking nice clothes for your photo shoot, but ladies watch out for the heavy make-up, reliable agents don't care much for that so try to go with a professional make-up artist so you won't get it wrong. Also beware of false agencies: a reputable agency will never ask you for any money up front, they can only start charging when they start getting you jobs! And keep in mind that you can't have a good start without a good portfolio, if you do have to spend money with something, let it be the production of such item and all that it takes. You won't regret for this is a growing market in need of people.
